E Letter Design With Symbols
Want a more decorated E letter design? These versions wrap the letter in hearts, sparkles, frames and brackets, ready for monograms and profile initials.
Where to Use a Stylish E
E starts names like Emma, Ethan, Elena and Eli, and it shows up inside almost every word. That's why a stylish E is often used for a whole word rather than one initial.
- Aesthetic bios. Words like ℯ𝓉ℯ𝓇𝓃𝒶𝓁 or 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 look striking because the e repeats.
- Initials and monograms. A script ℰ or gothic 𝔈 makes a neat single-letter profile name.
- Esports and gaming. Teams often add a bold or squared 🅴 before their name, a nod to the e in esports.
- Event posts. A dark bubble 🅔 or circled Ⓔ works as a badge for event or episode announcements.
- Brand names. Use a fancy E in your display name, but keep the plain spelling in the handle so people can find you.
E in Different Fonts: Choosing Your Style
Because e appears so often, the e font style you choose decides how readable your whole word is. Some e different fonts hold up better than others.
- Bold and sans bold (𝐄, 𝗘): clear at any size and supported almost everywhere.
- Cursive script (ℰ, ℯ): both the capital and lowercase come from the Letterlike Symbols block. ℯ is also the math symbol for Euler's number. To write a joined cursive E by hand, see our cursive E guide.
- Gothic (𝔈, 𝔢): the gothic lowercase e is narrow and easy to mistake for a c, so test the full word before using it.
- Greek style (ε, Σ): epsilon and sigma look like an E, but they're different letters. Fine for decoration, not for names people need to search.
- Upside down (ǝ, Ǝ): the turned e ǝ is also the schwa sound in phonetic spelling, so it displays on most devices.
Facts About the Letter E
E is the most common letter in English text. In 1939 Ernest Vincent Wright published Gadsby, a novel of more than 50,000 words written without a single letter E, which shows how hard it is to avoid.
The letter goes back to a Phoenician letter called he. The Greeks used it for a vowel and named it epsilon, and the Romans passed it on to us. Its shape has barely changed in over two thousand years.
E inspired several well-known symbols. The euro sign € is based on the Greek epsilon, the backward ∃ means "there exists" in logic, and the rounded ∈ means "is an element of" in set theory.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I copy a fancy E?
Tap any E on the page and it's copied. Paste it with a long press on mobile or Ctrl+V on a computer.
Why does the cursive e look different from other cursive letters?
The script e (ℯ) was encoded early as a math symbol for Euler's number. Unicode reused it for the script alphabet, so some fonts draw it a little differently from its neighbors.
What does the backwards E (∃) mean?
In logic and math, ∃ means "there exists". It's often used as a decorative reversed E as well.
Will a fancy e break my hashtags?
Yes, usually. Hashtags and search treat 𝐞 as a different character from e, so posts tagged with fancy letters won't show up in the normal tag. Keep hashtags in plain text.
Can I style a whole word that has lots of e's?
Yes. The fancy text generator on our homepage converts every letter in your word at once.
